>Here's the clock I've been working on. As you might see, there's no second hand or pendulum. The clock isn't finished, but the case is.

Give me a little slack,I'm used to making buildings, not furniture.

Finish is blo-turps and mylands clear wax.

Primary wood is cherry from a local tree cut down for firewood originally and saved as planks 25 years ago,air dried in a barn. The back is local yellow birch.

Some machine work but hand tools wherever my skill level allowed it.Round door is six pieces mitered with splines.Bottom door is a lap miter joint done completely by hand and rabbetted by hand for the glass. The box is rabbetted at the corners with the back set in a groove along the back edge.Moldings all shaped with plane, file, scraper, etc. This wood has never seen a piece of sandpaper.I shaped and rabbetted the round door with a router and removed all traces of it with scrapers.

And I learned it all right here at Woodcentral. Thanks,Ellis and everyone who participates in this great resource.

That`s a real nice timepiece.

Bob Hackett

>Now I see why they call you Crackerjack.

Got a nice depth to the finish too. That flame birch sure is something, isn`t it.Bet it wouldn`t look near as deep if it had been sanded.

Thanks for sharing the pics.

>Great job Jack. It looks like a winner to me. A wall clock and a tall case clock are on my somewhat endless roundtuit list but unfortunately will probably be there for a while. Ya dun Good.

>What a great looking clock! The wood is wonderful.

Is there a set of weights behind the bottom glass door? Where did you get the mechanism, the face, the decal, etc.?

thanks and answers

>Thank you for your encouraging words.I need all I can get.

No plans,I had a black and white picture in a book of clocks.I scaled it by changing mm in the picture to inches on a piece of cardboard and doing a little math to blow it up to size. I used the movement, pendulum, and dial to make sure my scale was correct.

The parts are from the guy who owns the movement. I'm not sure where he got them but if you want his source I will ask him.

When finished there will be a pendulum and weights in the lower case.

My next project? LOML has been bugging me for a blanket chest.I got some plans from Joel for the 6 board with dovetails.I guess that's next.---Crackerjack
