>This thing is getting close maybe another year.here is the first box with all the drawers installed I still need pulls but I have ideas the top drawer is for layout tools the pull will be a couple sections of a broken folding rule. the next drawer down is for the dove tail chisels it will have an abused socket chisel. the next drawer will have block planes in it I think I will go with a lever cap. I have not figured out what the other drawers will have in them yet. The two boxes on either side open on the other side of the bench and don't have all the drawers done yet so no lookie at that side. There is also a couple drawers between the bottom stringers one is 4' long for the level collection and the other is a short one ? what will go ing it there will also be a drawer between the top streachers not done yet. Any one wanting to send a drawer pull can e-mail me for my address I will make a note in the bottom of the drawer who sent it and where it came from. For the most part I want to stick with the abused tool theam.

Good Looking Bench! /Question?

Hank Knight

>Ernie, that's a great looking bench. What are the two boards bolted to the edge of the top? They look like clamps/vises for clamping work to the edge of the bench top. If they are, what did you use for the screw mechanisms? I'm building something similar into my workbench. I've got two ideas for the clamping mecahnism, but I can't make up my mind which way to go. I'd like to know what you came up with. Thanks.

>That is my custom dove tail clamp I morticed some 3/4" squair nuts in the side of the bench befor installing the last peice of the top there is also holes drilled in there so I can clamp any board to the side of the bench up to 5' long but I have a 1' and 2' boards there now but I can change them around hoever I want Then by using differant size bolts I can clamp things down. I intend to weld a couple large flat washers to the bolts and make them thumb screws but things are down the road. I cut the drawer sides first when cutting DT's so I can stack two pairs at a time and cut them all at once. I can take bettr pictures if you want.

>You and I had the exact same thought. I've imbedded four 1/2 X 13 stainless T-slot nuts into my top, and I'm going to use 1/2" bolts with several 6/4 maple vise faces of different lengths from 12" up to 28". I'm looking for a satisfactory handle to tighten the bolts. Your wing nuts sound good. Thanks for the idea.
