One mm chisel: thanks guys.

David Hammond, in Powder Springs GA

>I posted a couple of weeks ago about making a 1mm chisel, for a buddy of mine - he needs it for some part of constructing a fiddle. You guys gave me some great info, and I thought I'd say I appreciate it, and post a picture of what I did. Not only did you guys give me some pointers on how to make the tool, I tried to emulate an awl handle I saw posted here, that was absolutely gorgeous - olive handle; I think William Duffield made the tool. I don't think I executed my handle quite as well, but I'll be trying again - making tools could get addictive.

The handle is cherry, two coats of tung oil, the ferrul is a brass compression nut, turned and polished, and the blade is a sawzall blade shaped, ground, and then sharpened with a stone.

Thanks guys,

David

>That is nice. I love making my own tools. I haven't tried brass fittings for ferrules yet,but I plan on it.I have some turnscrews from files in the works but there's alot of other stuff to do always.Again, nice work.---Crackerjack

That's one sweet tool

>Blade shape's excellent. Tool's the right length for a balance of rigidity and control. And the knob's downright elegant.
