A rough one is perfectly OK for framing/carpentry. Oilstone, Diamond Stone, etc..., your choice.
The only exception is that you may need a shaving sharp chisel for cutting in a lock, so keep a fine stone wrapped away somewhere.

>The biggest slick I have is 2 1/2" I sharpened it up with using a DMT diamond 1200 grit then finished it off with with microabrasive paper till it was polished.
