Nibbed Skewback?

Todd O. Cronkhite Native of Maine

>Something tells be I pulled a major bozo a few weeks ago at the flea-market. I saw a severly rusted, broken handled skewback saw that had a nib for $1 and passed on it because my hands where full of other rust. the more I think of it the more I think I am a Blithering Idiot for not grabbing it up as I don't recall ever seeing a nibbed skewback before. Has anybody else seen one? Am I now in the running for the Blithering Idiot award?

>H. Disston devoloped the SkewBack saw way back in 1874,[drew the design on his office floor suposedly] so Skewback saws came out a good bit befor the end of the use of nibs which I guess was sometime in the early 1920's.If it was a split nut saw it might have been a little uncommon but in the condition you described don't sound like you missed to much even for just a Buck....Todd

>Oops, I didn't even check to see if had split-nuts or not. I did think about buying for the saw nuts tho, but than said the heck with it as my hands where already full. I remember thinking even at the time that I didn't recall seeing a nibbed skewback before, but was thinking that I must of been mistaken. The more I thought of it afterwards I'm certain that I've never seen a nibbed skewback. Ahhhhhhhhhh well, I'll have to keep me peepers pealed to see if I see anymore of them. Perhaps I've seen them before but don't remember, as if I had I'm sure that I would of picked one up by now.
