>If its not to wet in the yard I hope to finish the shed for wood storage. If it is I will start on an Island/bar for the wife she wants it by the middle of April. I also want to spend some time on the bench drawer boxes I almost have one finished and the other tow have one drawer each finished. If I get board I might work and a couple planes. Todd O has challenged me. He had better think about the same thing. Every one have a Safe and Rockin good weekend

>The fleas reopen this weekend after a winter break, so I guess I'll be rust hunting. Also, rebuilding kitchen cabinet #2. The cabinets that came with the house are pressboard, and keep falling apart. I'm reusing the face frames and building plywood cases.

>More of the neverending bench project. After a long hiatus from it, I've gotten back to work. In my design, the legs are mortised into the top. I had all four installed, and am now going back, cutting off the old tenons, enlarging and resquaring the mortises and cutting new tenons. I wasn't happy with some slop and/or lean to the legs so they are getting redone. Tenon #5 (Leg 1, take 2) was finally acceptable, so 3 more to go! I'm using all hand tools (save for some rough sizing of stock at the outset), so it's all a learning process for me.

>SWMBO and kids are gone for the weekend. Lots of time in the shop available for tuning up a mid-nineteenth century razee smmother and a Stanley made Craftsman Low Angle Smoother (65 knockoff)I picked up in Frederick, Maryland a couple of weeks ago for $15 (stealth gloat). I will probably practice cutting some sliding dovetails for a box top I'm working on. Work safe!

>Shop maintenance/remodel this weekend. I hate it but it has to be done and I love the results. Painted the ugly osb floor this week and I'm rearranging everything so my shop is more efficient, easier to use.Only problem is ,as I move stuff around I keep running into unfinished projects.

Have a great weekend.---Crackerjack

>I'll be visiting the in-laws this weekend. No tools. No shop time. My father-in-law thinks fine-craftsmanship means using a cordless drill and reciprocating saw as oppposed to a corded model and a chainsaw. Handtools are things to open paint cans with and leave on the deck for a season or two.

Hey Ernie,

Todd O. Cronkhite Native of Maine

>Not so much as a challenge, but an idea. When at the flea market today I had my eyes peeled for suitable plane soles but came up short.

I've got so many iron in the fire these days that I probably won't get to scratch plane building anytime soon, but than again I am intrigued by the idea.

Found a beauty of a treadle grindstone at the FM today, but the $75 asking price was out of my reach. :~(

Anybody else gonna build a "'Nander plane"? Would that be the right word for a plane built from scraps? We need to find a suitable name for them? Suggestions?

Spent most of the day designing and building a large tool rest for my grinder. It is similiar to LV's, just much BIGGER! Probably finish it tomorrow after getting home from the FM.

>I don't know it they have to be made from scraps just not from kit. I am an extreem person a cheep bottom feeder who makes every nickle work for me befor being spent. Lets jsut call it the plain plane contest.

>Not a nice project, but needed: Built the little sharpening station in Kirby's sharpening book. Just to keep it on topic, built it with my trusty handsaws... :-) I really should have been working on the cherry side tables, but needed a better place to sharpen.
