>I have a set of Marples screwdrivers with the oval handles and the blade is flat where it enters the handle. The bolster / ferruel is made of fairly heavy steel and on two of them it is loose and slides down to the round part of the shaft. What would be the best way to keep them up where they belong?

I think the best way would be to shim it with some matching wood shavings and a little white glue (dries pretty clear). Then place the ferrule back. They (Marples)used a punch of some sorts to "dimple" the ferrule to hold it place. I'd use the last one at your own risk. Good luck!

>Scott, thanks for your input. I hadn't thought of glue & shavings, but I did think of dimpling it or using epoxy. It's just that the ferrule is so thick (these are about 25 years old), that I didn't want to damage the handle getting the dimple. The other thought I had was to drill a small hole in the ferrule and put a small brad it.

>Yea I know, their thick but somewhat soft too. I've used a somewhat dull center punch to tighten 1 of mine up, but just a little and it was kinda scary.
