>Aye Jack, you've got a bit of a point there. Spring time here certainly isn't nothing like up Home way to be certain. No mud season neither :~(
Spring here last about a week than if just freaking a' bloody damn hot, hot, hot, with high humidity 'til about October.
Kinda' wish I hadn't even replied to your post because now I'm thinking of the hot weather that'll soon be here and now I'm wound up tighter n' a top.
Lots of folks think I'd rather endure the heat of Fl than the cold of Maine, but that is wrong, wrong, wrong. Sure Maine may be cold, but you've gotta take the good with the bad I always say. Other than the milder winters I can't find much else that I really care about Fl and would leave in a second if I could.

>Todd, If it'll make you feel better,We're just getting into what promises to be a nasty mud season. Because of the long deep cold and the lack of snow cover(at least here in southern Maine)the frost has been driven quite deep. Now the weather is getting somewhat warm and we have rain coming but no chance of the ground thawing so---MUD!!!Probably gonna get a few deep snows on top of the mud too so it's unplowable. It's all fun tho. I'll be hiding in my shop.---Jack

>MUD,the letters are way too small here to convey the true gravity of the situation.Mud season is just that,MUD,and it really is a season up here.Reminds me,it`s almost time to break out the old horse joke. They even made reference to it on the radio this morning(WTOS,the top of the rock).
The second sign of spring in Maine is something else Todd O doesn`t miss at all,BLACK FLIES!How can anything so small have such a big bite?19 more days folks! ;^)

Gotta admit
Todd O. Cronkhite Native of Maine
>that I don't miss Blackfly Season to much, but than again, ya' gotta take the good with bad eh? If a bit o'mud, a few weeks of being eatin' alive by things you can't see, and a few cold months is all you've got to fuss about than things aren't too awful bad than.
Down here I wonder if I'll get thru the day without:
A: Being crashed into by these idiot drivers who have no clue what a red light means.
B: Being Robbed
C: Being shot
D: Having something happen to my Wife or Daughter.
Too much stress here, and the warmer weather dosen't make up for it, at least not for me.

>Todd, from my perspective, you do not live in Florida, you live in south Georgia. Your weather has more in common with Savannah than with Miami.
Jack - We do have seasonal variations down here, but they are not in synch with what you get.
There is a rainy season, which extends from May Day to Columbus Day, more or less. It starts out warm and humid, and gets quite warm and humid in August, but never as hot as some places up north. It will never approach 100-degrees. Not even the high 90s. It usually rains at least once per day. At the start of the rainy season, in May/June it can rain A Great Deal. Periodic flooding, etc.
Then we have a period of cooler weather, with mixed cloudy/overcast/rainy days, until late December. Then we have the period we are in now, when it is pleasant, clear, and dry. Sometimes a bit of a drought. If you have to visit here, Feb/Mar/Apr is the nicest time of the year.
Anyway, that is SoFla weather.
It goes something like this...
Bob Hackett
>A man is traveling during MUD season and he comes upon a crossroad. In the center of this crossroad is a man up his neck in mud.
The traveler asks if the mud is deep,to which the man replies"Not nee-ah as deep as I`ve seen it uh-thah yee-ahs".The somewhat bewildered traveler asks the man if he`s alright. The man says"Oh,I`m finestkind.I`m a bit worried `bout the horse I`m settin` on though".

>Yeah Don, you're right the weather here in Jacksonville is more like Ga's than Miami's. Thanks for the reminder that things could be worse. Still hate it here tho. I'd go North, but LOML sim0ply cannot handle much cold. were most folks might be chilly, she is frozen. Touching here skin is like walking into a freezer. I actually feel more sorry for her having that problem, than I do for myself having to put up with the heat, thus here I am in FL. Uh oh, I feel myself starting to wind up again. Here comes Mr. Hyde, run, run, run.

>Before we married, I made noises about wanting to move to New England after a couple of years.
That went down the chute real fast. I do not think that we will ever move further north than Ocala. That may even be too cold for the spousal unit.
Oh, well, I can live anywhere, I think. (Although, I have never come near a desert)
