>Here is the second part of the construktion of the cabinet (Is it a cabinet or a cupboard?)

This time my duty was to build the frame, which will be

attached to the front of the body.

Klick on the button "trim" and you can view the process and accidents of building the mouldings...

A very interesting post, thanks for taking the time to put it together. Is one of your smoothing planes an infill? If so, what type?

The norris-Type, the plane with the japanese blade are infills, but not in the traditional way. They are milled from solid steel and the blade is bedded on an wooden infill.

>Hi Rolf,

Thanks for telling us this story, and for telling it in such a matter-of-fact way. It is a very familiar feeling to me--dealing with small and not-so-small mishaps. I often wonder if most decoration and ornament--including the high-end stuff like cockbeads, stringing, and inlay--originated with a resourceful craftsman fixing a problem in a pleasing way.

The story of the Stanley #55 is a fine example of turning lemons into lemon chiffon pie. Those moldings are most impressive, and the extra bead is beautiful. It's a testament to your skill in handtool use.

Looking forward to the continuation!
