William R. Duffield on the Cohansey
>This is a puzzlement. This plane is neither a Stanley Bailey bench plane, nor a Stanley Victor plane. Stanley bought out Mr. Bailey twice. The first time, they obtained patents that they applied to their bench planes, #1 through #10. Bailey then parted company with Stanley and started another company, which built this work of art and other Victor planes. Stanley later bought this company as well, and later applied the "Victor" name to low end, multi-colored bench planes.
Even the knob (really, the mold from which the knob was cast) is a work of art. The cast tote looks to be a bit uncomfortable, but it certainly has durability advantages over rosewood.

>If you go to the URL at bottom you will find a couple of #7's of same genre. It says that they were available with optional rosewood tote and knob. In fact they have both for sale here.
There are also a few facts about them.
