ON THE QT: COOL THINGS I PASS ALONG JUST FOR YOU

--> CALIFORNIANS SHOULD APPLY FOR MICROSOFT VOUCHERS

As part of a lawsuit settlement reached last year, Californians are

being offered $1.1 billion in vouchers from Microsoft. The settlement

covers products bought from February 1995 to December 2001.

Plaintiffs in the lawsuit claimed Microsoft had overcharged

Californians, violating antitrust law. The issue never went to court;

instead, the settlement was reached. The vouchers can be redeemed after

the holders buy computer equipment.

If you live in California and bought Microsoft products, you're

probably eligible. Organizations that bought a lot of software could

collect thousands in vouchers. You can get more details, and apply for

the vouchers, at: http://microsoftcalsettlement.com/

>Maybe, but if no one applies, M$ gets off scott free. I just got a check for $108 for drug overcharges during the '90s, not a fortune, but not insignificant either.

>Microsoft sent me the forms a couple of months ago but I haven't filled them out yet. I don't think I will get rich - may $30 or so.
