>I thought some might enjoy seeing a picture of a small saw till I built a while back. It's made from some left over Walnut pieces I had in my shop. The back is Walnut plywd.

The saws are secured laterally by a kerf at the top and just rest along a shelf at the bottom. The little elliptical shaped pieces rotate and hold them in place.

You can also see a super-el-cheapo jointer plane rack I made beside and above it.

>Nice Mark! How about some close ups of the bow saws too. Especially the one to the right. It looks way interesting. Did you make it? BTW the saw till using turn buckles is a nice way to keep the saws vertical (or nearly so) and minimize the footprint.JR

>Joe,

Thanks for the comment on the saw till.

The saw on the left (that's only partially visible) is a Crown bow saw I got from Highland Hardware. I really like that one.

The saw on the right is one I made in honor of my dog. Here are two close-ups of it:

Fantastic bow saw!

>I knew there was something _not_ ordinary about the saw. The craftsmanship is... is... well...awesome! Thanks for posting the pics. There have been other tributes to pets, mostly dogs, on the various fora but your work is truly a high water mark. I really like the way you included the body lines into the arms(legs??)to complete the image. Do you use the saw? I don't see how it could be any less usable than an unadorned saw. And it would remind you every time you picked it up.Nice work.JR

Not quite as svelte as a panther, but he sure can track to a line.

You need to get a copy of the Badger Pond Archives on CD-ROM, wherein you will find a post by Mark on the design and construction of this dog of a backsaw.

>Thanks Sir Will. I must have missed that when it was posted on the Pond. Nice to put it out there again so new additions to the woodworking fraternity can enjoy it.JR

>Thanks, Joe. Yes I use it. It takes standard 6 1/2" coping saw blades.

Ha, good one! Of course if the saw tracked like the real Benson it'd be a real zig-zag of a cut :)
