I was afraid to disassemble the tensioning system because when I had accidently loosened the tensioning knob too far the washer and spring fell out. I knew I had gone too far in loosening and didn't want to mess it up any further.

I've also used the Clifton Stay Sharp cap on Stanley and Hock blades (have one on my #5 right now) - works as well or maybe a little better than a properly tuned standard chip breaker when it's properly fitted.
Yes - it can be handy for a quick rehoning, but I find that if I'm in a hurry, I'd rather use my back-up blade/chipbreaker which is ready to go.
