>I saw one go for about $6K at auction, but it was a special rabbet version, like a #10 or even more like a huge rabbet block plane. It was a Stanley engineering prototype, that never made it to production, in excellent condition.

went for well beyond the reserve. I guess this fellow fron Australia was looking for something closer to the $3500 price. 40 bids but only a handful od heavy hitters....Hey, we may get lucky and find one of these in the wild from an old grey haired lady for $5....I can dream can't I?

>When I bought the 4.5 LN that was my upper limit but I guess to those who buy Bridge City and other planes it's a drop in the bucket. Who know if with the upswing on hand tools maybe it will be worth in a few years. There was a beautiful saw that went for 384.00.
