WC hates grumpy old men....

Tried to do something in [Fork BB] Forum but it wanted my log-in and kept telling me that was incorrect. My Google password manager says it's good but WC doesn't like it. I can log in automatically. What's wrong?

Wood.net has a pleasant format I've liked, but, BUT.... I despised the Off-topic list for all of the filth it spit out, and those members who were goody-two-shoes elsewhere. I'm still registered, but the off-topic posts outnumber all the rest. No thanks.

Ps. There are way too many passwords required here. You are almost as bad as using Federal Gvmt websites.

PPs. I'm going away to sulk some more.

Re: WC hates grumpy old men....

You will need to create an account on ForkBB, as you do not have a profile in this forum system.

https://www.woodcentral.com/forkbb/registration

Fill in the blanks. A passphrase is a case-sensitive series of words with spaces; e.g.,

  • Mary had a little lamb
  • Make American Great Again
  • Taylor Swift has nice legs
  • I hate long passwords

You will receive an email at the specified address to confirm registration.

Enjoy, preferably with a cold beverage.

I'm plenty grumpy and old, but I have no issues logging in. Sooooo, maybe it's just you?

Re: WC hates grumpy old men....

Just continue using the forums as they are. The new forum section is just an attempt to make all the posts made over the years available. That, and as a backup, as this software is so old, servers may not support it much longer.

Wood.net? Was that a thing? The domain is currently for sale. Apparently it wasn't TOO pleasant.

Are you saying you're not looking forward to my planned new Taylor Swift Forum? She's clean and wholesome. Among other things.

Strange

I don't even see what he's talking about.  Alternate forum doesn't show up on my WC pages.

Don't need it so don't really care so no need to show me how/where.

Re: WC hates grumpy old men....

Every one does.

They do 40  in the passing lanes in their 1989 Buicks, tie up the only human staffed cash register at Home Depot trying to get a price match on a 99 cent item and want their house fixed from top to bottom for $20.

I am trying hard not to be one

Test ONLY Site

If you don't like the test site [ForkBB] don't go there but stay on the "regular" WC forums.

What is the problem here?

Boy what a traffic jam at the WoodNet(s).... The one I belong to: https://forums.woodnet.net/  Access may not be so easy for you.

Their Off-Topic forum is considerably cleaner . ..  having just now looked at it for the first time in several years. If selected by WC to include, I can always ignore its existence. I guess these chat boards have been around quite a while. I remember one, including the p-nuts/crackers and wood stove, in Jackson Hole; 1970?

Woodnet Board Statistics

Our members have made a total of 969,885 posts in 62,727 threads.
We currently have 53,164 members registered.
Please welcome our newest member, p3vinny
The most users online at one time was 2,126 on 10-11-2018 at 07:38 PM

Their forum software is an Open Source package called MyBB which looks and works very much like the ForkBB we are developing.

ForkBB is faster and more powerful, and its author is working with us to tune it to our specific needs, so our platform will be better then theirs if we make the switch.

Note that Woodnet could never have achieved numbers of almost one million posts and over 53,000 members using the software used here. And 2,126 members online at one time in 2018? Whoa.
