Nova Voyager drillpress

Finally got my Voyager up and ready to go.  Had to assemble it on the floor then lift it upright and onto a heavy duty mobile base with a ceiling mounted winch.  Now to find some things that need holes!

Re: Nova Voyager drillpress

I’ve had mine for a few years now. Excellent machine.

Link to drill press table build: http://www.inthewoodshop.com/Powered%20Tools%20and%20Machinery/BuildingADrillPressTable.html

I added the Wixey laser …

Note the round insert (infinite fresh turnings) with offset hole ..

If you want to add a light, get a rechargeable bicycle light. Attach with a magnet …

Re: Nova Voyager drillpress

I have had one for about a year  and really like it.

Got mine at a freight auction.  The box it was in was mangled but gave it's life protecting the DP.  Had it on it's back in the remnants of the carton readying it to stand it up.  As I watched in fascination and horror it rolled onto it's side and did a face plant, knocking the black knob off and breaking the little shaft it was attached to.  Nova sold me a new face and all is well.

Enjoy, it's a joy to use.  Surprising how wonderful it is to not have to fiddle with belts.  And, have you figured out what you might use reverse for?

Voyager vs. Viking

How does the Nova Voyager compare to the benchtop Nova Viking?  Size, obviously, but how about function and performance?

Re: Voyager vs. Viking

I love my Nova Viking and it has plenty enough power for anything I've used it for.

Re: Nova Voyager drillpress

Nice article.  If I was buying another drill press I would get one with a geared head, that taps holes, automatically, in metal.  Useful in wood also.  Other than that, I prefer a milling machine, and a cheap easy to move around drill press with minimal horse power.
