Old Unisaw and 3phase conversion?
Hello all, Sorry I have been absent for a while. My excuse, oddly enough, is that I have been so busy woodworking that I have much less time to be on a computer! Anyway, there is a fellow in the area selling a Delta Unisaw. It appears to be early 1940's. Cast iron base, weighs a ton. Does anyone have experience with one of these old beasts? Opinions? I might be able to get it for $850. So, okay, here is the hitch....the saw has a 480v 3 phase motor. My shop is single phase. So I assume I would need a convertor? Is that a DIY project or would I need an electrician? What I hope to use this saw for is as a dedicated dado saw. All feedback would be appreciated!!
