cast iron care
I have an old #50 6 inch powermatic jointer. Had to read the book about it and powermatic says not to wax the table, shake some talc on it and rub it in with a blackboard eraser. It is supposed to stop rust.

Re: cast iron care
Talc will absorb moisture and give a little bit of a slippery feeling. Whether that stops rust could be debated since the talc will hold the moisture. I'm certain you don't need a blackboard eraser.
