Rocking chair question
For those of you who have built a rocking chair, did you apply any kind of finish, varnish, shellac, lacquer, to the bottom side of the rocker that’s in contact with the floor, or did you leave it bare?
thanks,

Re: Rocking chair question
I always finish every surface. Depending on the species and width of the rocker, splintering can be an issue with raw wood and decades of rocking.
Re: Rocking chair question
I apply the same finish on all surfaces, including the rockers. Also, I provide a 36” round braided rug to the recipient of each rocker. This prevents friction wearing damage to both the floor and the rockers.

All good ideas, I talked with someone at a woodworking show today who said he glues felt steipsmto the rockers.
