UV Protective Finish for Interior Furniture
I’m planning a project using quarter-sliced wenge veneer, which has subtle light and dark brown tones alternating in almost parallel lines. Sunlight fades the colors and stain makes it look like Masonite.
Can anyone recommend a finish that will filter out the ultraviolet but leave a minimal surface coat, preferably water-clear? I don’t have spray equipment but could arrange for a shop to spray it. I’d prefer a finish I can repair if scratched so I’d like to avoid polyurethane.
Any finish that will provide UV protection and allow a coat of shellac to stick would meet my needs.
