The fractal burning (Lichtenberg process) was all the rage in the woodturning field a while back. It became less popular when people started getting hurt and killed. The AAW (American Association of Woodturners) made a decision on this years ago:

There are still those who do it, some who understand electricity, some who foolishly play without understanding. As with anything, there are always some who think they know everything.

I read the post to indicate that HV line was a different frequency than 60 Hz - it may well be for all I know, I had just understood that power in the US is generated at 60 Hz, transmitted over the grid at 60 Hz and delivered to the end user at 60 Hz. It was implied by his dad's lineman that 30,000 volt power is something other than 60 Hz.

It seems that installing well grounded lightning rods in their pasture trees would cost them less than the loss of several cows. After all, they all have lightning rods on all their barns and silos. That's similar to the arguments for COVID vaccinations. We had a lightning strike here last night, less than one second away, but I haven't gone out yet to survey for fractal patterns on bark or for smoldering livestock.
