A model T in the woods

A little excursion on the way down from work last week. One of the guys knew where there was the remnants of a model T in the woods so we walked down to have a look at it.

All that is left is the engine, transmission, and a little bit of the body. There may be a frame around somewhere but I didn't see it.

The transmission is actually pretty simple, and the three pedals were used for controlling it (which Bob described as we looked at it, but I was only half paying attention ). Brake was on a lever rather than a pedal, and presumably the throttle was a hand control of some kind as well.

..from summit or jegs or rock, etc, and it's pretty much ready to go!

There's an old car that was left in one of the creeks here where I used to go fly fishing. I could never tell what it was, but it was in about the same shape. Someone told me it was a chevy (it had a longitudinal 4 cylinder like that) and someone had put plastic colorful wires on it sometime decades ago before they drove it into the creek because they were still colorful (at least the cases -the wires may have rusted away).

It'd be interesting to take some parts from that, clean them up and get them put on a running car.

My Dad had the first one in our county in western MA. But, sadly, when the State had the audacity to institute a Tax on motor cars he put his in the barn where it sat for some 30 years (he was like that)before he sold it for a dirt-cheap price! What I wouldn't give to have that car today! P.
