Youngest granddaughter wanted an "adult" bed to replace her kid bed. She saw a bed in the Mosher catalog ($4900) she liked. What she liked was the lattice head board, but not that lattice head board.

I have been mocking up a lattice.



Daughter the artist visited for my birthday and made some "artistic" refinements for filling the space with lattice. When it was optimum I took the measurements and made a drawing to work from. I could have done a story stick off the mock up but I don't work that way.

no, open lattice. I expect she will fill the spaces with stuff that will change weekly.

Looking at it in 2D my first thought was "1950s 'bookshelf'" headboard. Will the lattice have any real depth?

I was just thinking about how we like to sit up against our headboard to read. In other words, we appreciate a friendly, supportive surface to lean against. Just a thought. YMMV

If that factor becomes important to the client they will design for it next time. Personally I never read in bed.

The other granddaughter has requested a "box bed" with no headboard.

I hope she won't be doing anything in the bed for several more years that will knock children's toys off the shelves, if indeed the lattice is ever used as shelves.

Reading in bed? Yep - I made sure the headboard I made had covered compartments that we can lean against.
