Unable to include jpg file

Johanna Johanson

I have been trying to reply to a post with some text and a picture (jpg format and less than 100K). I have tried it in Chrome and in Firefox with no success. I looked up the information on how to include an image, but it does not seem to be current. It refers to a "little blue button", "upload embedded file", and so on, but that does not seem to be available. I also tried loading the image from Facebook with no success.

Delete your Woodcentral cookie....

This is what your dialog should look like. The "choose file" button is shown in the attached image. Same thing happened to me. Somehow, my cookie for woodcentral got whacked. Just delete the cookie and re-define your identity and preferences by creating a new message and previewing, but not posting. Everything comes back correctly.

Image uploading and more questions answered

There are two ways to upload images with your post. If you don't have a WoodCentral profile, your only option is to upload one image per post, by using the Optional Image URL textbox. The hitch is that your image (JPG, GIF, PNG file extension only) must *have* a URL, that is be on an internet server somewhere. If you can't pull up that URL independently in a browser it won't show up here either.

The preferred way is to register a profile, in which case your message posting interface will look like the one Tim posted above, with a button you can click to insert your image (file size limit, 1 Mb) in the text of your post. You can insert multiple images in your post by this method. The important thing here is that you are using the *exact* username and email address you have registered in your profile. If these aren't the same, you won't see the upload button or any of the text formatting options or smilies. So, the first thing to do when you're having trouble is to check your profile info, which you can look up your registered info at the My Profile link. If you do find a discrepancy, go to Set Preferences and make any necessary corrections. You'll need to reset your preferences in whatever computer/device, messageboard and browser you're having the issue with.

In the last extremity, you may need to delete your WC cookies in any browser that is giving you trouble.

One final note: After you post, if you've posted as a registered used successfully, your username will appear as a blue hyperlink in the message index listing. If your username is in black type, our system doesn't recognize you as a registered user.

Hope this helps.

login name?

John K Jordan

I see a "johannaj" in the profiles (in Placitas, New Mexico) but no "Johanna Johanson".

I thought the user name used for login needed to match the one in the profile. Is that correct? If the same Johanna, perhaps that's the problem.

Exactly

Johanna needs to Set her preferences to her profile username. Here's another note: If you want to change your Username, you need to contact me with the change. This can't be deleted or modified by anyone but a moderator. At this point, that would be me.
