My friend owns a business condo/warehouse. He needs to repaint the lines and Handicap symbols in the parking lot. There is loose gravel where the symbols are.
Is there a Paint that will bond the gravel in place? We have found the line paint but just don't know the solution to the loose gravel. Don't want to just sweep it away because the resulting hole will hold water. Eventually they will have to repave but there are complications on that and it will be while. He has gotten the stencils. This is a very small condo situation so it's almost do it yourself. What does one do?
there is 'stuff' to pour over gravel paths that keep the 'pebbles' or sand in place on a pathway. I imagine that enough of that (multiple pours?) would do what you are asking. Can't recall the name of the stuff, but I believe have seen it in home centers. It is a clear product.
It doesn't seem like the loose gravel will stay put and I think you'll be hard pressed to come up with anything to solidify it enough to hold after cars roll over it. Couldn't he use a post (doesn't need to be tall) with a handicap sign attached to mark it instead?
I've used athletic field marking paint left over from my baseball coaching days for years for laying out landscaping beds and other stuff. Used on gravel, you'll have to renew it periodically, but that's not a big deal. They make a small wheeled marking machine to hold the inverted cans, or you can do it manually, using a dryline or something similar. As far as the signs, I see those in every big store parking lot around here, so I'm pretty sure they are an allowable fix.
Just realized what the answer is. Walked out to look at it again and noticed that if we move the symbols forward about 3' they will be out of the damaged/loose gravel. Sometimes the obvious is really hard to see.
