48 feet of bridge has ties added back

It is going slow. Hard working off the I beam flanges and rotten ties.
The crew is only able to do 12' per day of removing old ties, painting and adding back replacement ties. Deck and rails will go much faster.

Having spent this past Saturday replacing ties on our club's railroad, do you guys have the tongs for picking up ties with a pair of guys and carrying them? Can you get a compact tractor out there on the replaced decking to lift & move the ties? As you probably know, the new ties are very heavy and can be dangerous to man handle without some of the tight tools.

What is on this steel are bridge ties- 8 x 10 x 10'. No way to manually carry and position them with only 14" I-beam flanges to walk on.
A rubber tired fork lift carries the ties out on the bridge deck as you see it in the picture (just ties and runners). A small excavator with a grabber opposed to the bucket snatches the tie from the fork lift tines, then swings it around into position. It is slow.
On the last bridge which was shorter and spanned a road, we set a crane in the road and positioned 100 ties in less than half a day.
