Outdoor TV

Wife and kids are driving me crazy for an outdoor tv. Anybody here have any experience with these, suggestions, problems, etc? I am not spending $8,000 for something in full sun!!! Anybody tried building an enclosure and putting a cheap tv out there? These things are crazy expensive >(

Used to have one of those!! We brought it to the Bears football games to watch replays at the old stadium. before the days of giant scoreboard screens

I had a battery powered portable with a much bigger screen than that. I carried it to a Nascar race once where someone was rebroadcasting the network feed from inside the track.

Any time there was an incident/wreck a crowd gathered around me to see the replay.

That was the first and last Nascar race I attended. I could not believe the number of belligerent drunks in the stands and outside after the game, some still basically able to walk without assistance seemed to itching for a fight.

And the mismanagement of parking - it took me 3 hours to get out of the parking lot, almost as long as the exit after a space shuttle launch at Cape Kennedy/Canaveral.

The coldest I have ever been was at Soldier Field for a playoff game between the Bears and Chiefs in about 1986. We scalped tickets that were on the lake side about 10 rows from the top. Wind, rain, sleet . . . hypothermia.
