Thunderbird email error

I am having spells of getting this error when trying to send an email.

How to fix?

It can meant that the email server is not working or your password was wrong.

I now suspect an Earthlink fault

The problem comes and goes by the hour starting a few days ago. Nothing is changing on my end so it must be Earthlink.

Bill,

I would agree with your suspicion. I have had Earthlink for years without any problems. BUT for the last couple of weeks it has been acting strange. Sign in has been sporadic, and deleting messages works sometimes and other times it will not work.
