Poplar color question

Some poplar is very colorful. My friend asked if I could make some shelves for her kitchen out of some I had. I can make the shelves, but I don't think she will be happy.
Doesn't poplar fade or all the colorful parts turn brown after a while? That is, it doesn't keep it's vibrant color?
(I've been using it for drawer sides and other internal parts)

The green color is fugitive and oxidizes to a fairly deep brown over time.

Set a piece out in the bright sun for a day and you will have an answer to your question.
But the white stays white, doesn't it?

The 2X6 poplar I framed my barn with in the 1970s was still white 40 years later.

It gets brown with age but much less brown than than the heartwood.
The black areas stay black, however

What you end up with over time is small variations of brown and black.

Good Idea, I will set some out to see what happens. Just did not realize it would only take a day or two.
I had some that was 5/4 and resawed it into drawer sides. I have a few left from the stash, but they are in a room that gets very little direct light and none on the wood itself. Seems to be about the same color as when I sawed it, perhaps not as bright and clear.
