Shaper Problem
Jim Hoeller
I have a Delta 2 speed, heavy duty shaper. I use it about once or twice a year. I am building a frame and panel cedar chest using tongue and groove joinery. I started with cutting the grooves and installed the knives to run counter clock wise. A few sample cuts got the groove centered and I ran all of the rails and stiles through the knives. I have not been able to get the nut that holds the knives on the spindle loose. The threads on the spindle are right hand and the nut seems frozen solid. Using a length of pipe on the wrench was ineffective as was blocklng the knives and using an impact wrench. The spindle is one inch and the nut is one and one-half inch hex. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
