Laguna band saw

I recently bought a Laguna band saw - great saw but I have a concern. The ceramic blade guides seem to create a lot of sparks. A lot of dust collects under the table (despite my dust collection) and I'm wondering if this is a potential fire issue. Surely this would have occurred to the Laguna folks....... Thoughts????

Sparks and dust are a legitimate concern. I would first check to see that you don't have the blade guides too tight to the blade and that the blade doesn't have any jags or burrs, especially at the weld. If you still are seeing sparks, I wouldn't hesitate to call Laguna for their official story on ceramic guides, how to use them, and how to avoid unnecessary sparking.

Maybe dressing the back of blade is especially important with ceramic guides.

when i first installed the laguna ceramics on my mm16 there were lots of sparks - but soon they disappeared - maybe the ceramics got "cured" (??) or with wear the space got a bit wider - but even now when i put on a new blade and re-set the guides i'm not seeing any

This has been my experience as well. I saw a lot of sparks initially, but very few now. I've never had a fire issue, even when the sparks were heavy.
