How I made the desk pulls

Step 1 was to make the three saw cuts shown and then with a gouge dig out the arced relief for the bottom of the pull.
Step 2 The gouge left a scalloped surface that I thought would be trendy. It felt crappy. So it is smoothed by arced cuts with a flat chisel.
Step 3 File it roundy.
Step 4 Cut off and saw the dovetail

Wouldn't have been easier to us a long (6" - 8"?) board and cut tails in each end first- on a router table with the board mounted vertically to a miter gauge or simple jig- nibbling from each edge? Then clamp it, shape the pull areas, cut each to length, and shape the ends.

I am unsure how to respond because I am unsure where you think the challenge is in making this pull. Sawing a dovetail is trivial. 160 of them were sawed to make the drawers. Another 40 to make the drawer dividers. There is nothing fiddly about it. What ever one winds up with is used to mark the socket it goes in.
The difficult part of making the pull is excavating the dovetail socket accurately and shaping what is seen when the drawer is closed. The socket benefits from experience. The shaping benefits from an artistic eye and that is the part of this pull that I am challenged by.
