I used to have a De Walt scroll saw, but sold it when we moved and I had o downsize my shop to a basement shop in the new house. My son gave me gift cards for Rockler, and I've been looking at a Rikon variable speed saw. It's quite a bit less expensive than others, and I wonder if anyone has experience with the Rikon. It wouldn't see lots of use, but does come in handy for the wood models I make of antique cars. Any comments appreciated.

I can't speak to their SSs but I really like the quality of their Bandsaw and about to buy a second one.

If you are talking about the 16" scroll saw, the first thing I noticed is that it uses a pin style blade. That would eliminate the machine for me.

According to the specs, it accepts both pinless and pin type blades.
