Howdy. A friend had a 12 inch trash compactor go bad on them. He pulled it out and tossed it. He has been trying to find another one then figured they could use the space to put baking sheets. They asked me to make a door and cabinet for them.

The styles from the cabinets on either side of the opening are into the space a little (1/8 to maybe 3/16). They said just a flat door would work. I am thinking about not using and new styles and attaching the door to the side of one of the installed cabinets. This would allow them to use the maximum space.

Would the Blum #BP71M27521180S hinges work for this? I mean going around the styles that stick out a bit, or would I have to cut away the little over hang?

That will give you 90 degrees of door swing.

Not sure but I think the part that mounts inside the cabinet is for frameless cabinetry and is expecting the inside mounting surface to be flush with the outside surface. If so, just add a filler piece under the inside mounting plate perhaps 1/8" thick or so. It should work just fine. Be sure to get hinges that open enough to allow storing and removal of intended items.

I flipped a condominium that used to have a trash compactor. (It was a "thing". Every unit in this group had one) My unit's compactor had been removed. I built a trash drawer that had some fancy pullout hardware and a rack that held the can and a matching compost can. Paid way too much money for the hardware. Fought with it tooth and nail.

If I had the same problem again I would just make a tip out "drawer" that is hinged at the bottom with a restraint chain at the top and just set a trash can in it.

Blum has a downloadable pdf file with applications and dimensions for all their hinges. They make face frame adapter plates they may be useful in your application. It's a lot of information and took me a while to decipher all the nomenclature, but I got the hinges I needed for a twin overlay with zero reveal.
