Repairing maple Raised Panel Cabinet doors????
Barry Irby
Someone gave me a bunch of maple raised panel cabinet doors. Very nice except they all have a crack in a stile near the corner. I am guessing the panels are too wide and bottom out in the grooves and swelled, pushing the stile away, cracking it.
Seems a shame to throw them away.
I am considering taking them apart, jointing about an 1/8" off each side of the panels and reassembling them. They would make nice utility cabinet doors.
What do you think? (My packrat gene is twitching)
: Since they are local, take them back to the maker and demand replacements, since they have an obvious manufacturing error. (exercise in futility, probably).
