Keeping busy
Ellis Walentine
My wife has been documenting the work on her new tiny studio that I'm building for her in our back yard. Here's a shot of the old codger planing a 4 x 8 x 13' old-growth cypress ridge beam. Just like the good old days. My son is in town from Alaska, and we hope to have the studio complete in the next couple weeks. We'll see about that.

On another note, here's a detail of a maple kitchen worktable I built a couple months ago -- all function, no pretense. But I don't know how we lived without this particular feature, a pull-out compost pan. I thought maybe some of you might be interested. This project has added significance for me: the top was made from the former tablesaw outfeed table from my dear departed shop in Pennsylvania.
