I want another router. I currently have a Bosch EVSPK and a Porter Cable 690. I have a spiral upcut 1/2 inch in the Bosch and a dovetail bit in the Porter Cable. Those are being used to cut the dadoes for vertical dividers in a couple of dressers. It would be very convenient to have a third router set up with a dovetail bit in the router table to rout the edges of the dividers.
So here's the question: if I buy a Bosch EVS, is it exactly the same machine as the EVSPK - just without a plunge base? Will it fit in the table undermount that I have for the EVSPK?
You should trongly consider a D-handle base for a dovetail fixture. So nice for extra control and having a trigger switch right there. I bought a D-handle for my 690 just for that. It makes a one handed move to set the router to the side very easy.
I have one from Carol Reed (the Router Lady). I have all the jigs/bases she designed as well as her book. I really miss her. She used to visit us any time she passed through New Mexico.
I still have the Porter Cable plunge in the Legacy Mill you sold me. I've been thinking of switching to my Makita plunge that I rarely use because I like it better.
Do you want the PC back? No charge if you can wait until the next time I'm out that way or if you would like to make the long drive to scenic Corona.
Of course, I can imagine wanting a new router too, so no offense taken if you want to go that way. New stuff is awfully fun!
I just ordered the Bosch. I already have the base that attaches to the router table, so had to stay with the router that fits it. It arrives Thursday, so it won't be long before I can stop changing from the handheld base to the table base and vice versa!

So have you been using the Legacy mill? What have you made with it? For me, it just took up too much shop space for something I would not use very often.
I've been using it a little, though not for the kind of fancy rope carving that it was really designed to do, mostly been using it for things I used to do with a milling machine where I used to work in AZ. Long corebox style cuts in a piece clamped in the machine, etc.
One day I do plan to do some rope spindles though, that does sound like fun We're talking about building another house down in Cloudcroft, if we do I should end up with more shop space than I have here and may be able to set up some of my more rarely used machines in dedicated spots of their own.
Don't have the Bosch in this size, but I do have the PC kit. I got a bonus D-handle base at purchase (eons ago!), and I use that D-handle almost exclusively when I use it handheld. A conventional 'twin side knob' base just feels wrong now.

I originally started with a single PC 691. After a while I got tired of swapping the motor between the 691 base and into the router table and back. So I bought a regular 690 to keep in the table. Later I purchased the 693 plunge base and later a 2nd 691. Then I bought a PC 892 for my table and moved the 690 motor to the 690 base for handheld use. It's handy when dovetailing to have the multiple routers. I still like the D grip setup best and use it most of the time.
