Many financial sites are requiring a text with a 6 digit code be sent to a previously verified cell phone. This 6 digit number must be entered in addition to the normal password.

A prior explanatory communication from the service would seem likely, before transmitting any information. If legitimate, should be information on the service's home page.

First be sure you are not being phished do not click on any link to get to paypals website type paypal.com in and go from there.

I like two factor authentication makes it much harder for someone to take over your account then they must know your pass word and take control of your phone.

I had that happen recently when I logged in from a new computer.

I get this every time I login to Paypal. I just click on "Remind me later". I get enough junk phone calls without putting my number out there and sold to more telemarketers. .

My wife got this. There is no longer a "maybe later" type button. There is a "send me a code" button which doesn't seem to be active.

When I log in through my home computer "not now" is a choice.

When we tried to log in this morning, we got the phone thing and also a "send me a code" link but clicking the link didn't work. This afternoon we were able to log in as usual but some pages looked different than previously. My guess is that Paypal changed their web site around and didn't test it well before going live. It works now.

Were you using a PC or a Android device?

The title of an email this evening said I needed to correct a problem with my Paypal account. I don't have a Paypal account. Between curses for the sender I quickly deleted the email without opening it.
