Hi,

Bill asked some weeks ago for for close up photos of my pulls. They are in Ebenholtz or Rose wood. On larger drawers/doors I make them 6 mm (1/4) thick and 18 mm (3/4). A bit less on smaller projects. I mill them to right width and bandsaw the contour. I use a sanding drum to get rid of the bandsaw marks and glue then on the door/drawer. Finally they are planed flush and hand sanding to the right rounding. Below is the side board pull.

On my latest pieces I have a dovetailed version.

those are elegant.

Is the ash you use European or American? If American load up on it now for it will be no longer available soon. Any you are buying now from the US is from inventory sawed a year or more ago.

It is Scandinavian ash.

The last 30 years I have searched for old ash with a darker heartwood (called olive ash) at small sawmill in the country side. Now I have some 30 2 to 2,5 inch slabs which hopefully will last my lifetime......

Forgot to mention that Krenov in one of his book state something like - the drawer pulls shall be delicately made so people handle the furniture carefully.

I hope the Asian beetle does not find your ash. It was gone here in 5 years. Our ash looks identical to what is in your furniture. The reddish heartwood is more abundant in some trees than others.

...He wasn't making furniture for my grandchildren! By and large he made furniture to look at. I have no doubt your pull will not fail.
