Cherry color fresh and aged

I find it remarkable how much cherry changes color. The cherry that grows here in TN at the southern end of its range changes even more than northern cherry. Shown are two cherry pieces cut from the same log. The light one I planed this morning; the darker one I planed last summer and left exposed to light and air on top of the cherry lumber pile in indirect light (inside lumber shed).
