How to repair hollow core table top?????
Barry Irby
A friend asked me to repair a card table he bought that as a divot in it under the fabric playing surface. I got the fabric loose (Literally a hundred staples) and found the top to be made like a hollow core door 1" thick. The top layer of blond press board (Not tempered Masonite) has got a hole about an 1 1/8" by 3 1/2" and there was some paper honeycomb under it, but I have picked that out.
I am thinking of making a filler block and gluing it into the hole and then spackling the surface. Then stretch the fabric back over it and call it good.
How would you repair it?
