Performax 10-20, wont sand flat

Man am I glad this forum still exist because I know someone here knows the answer to my problem. So I got a free Performax 10-20 drum sander from a fellow wood worker/luthier I met at my RC plane field. I pretty much disassembled the entire unit to get all the caked on saw dust out and boy did that help the balance on the drum. I installed a new drive belt on the bed and also new sanding paper on the drum I ordered from Klingspor. So this morning I was sanding some scrap oak, about 3/4 inches thick and a little wider that the drum & drive belt. The wood kept wanting to sort of stick on the open end of the sanding drum and drive belt. Further sanding with smaller pieces proved what I had suspected. The height of the sanding drum is NOT parallel to the bed of the sander. I pulled up the manual for the sander, however there's NO indication of how to fix this.
So, have any of you experienced this with your drum sanders and how did you fix it? Is there an adjustment, maybe on the motor mount that I could utilize to make this thing sand parallel/flat. Now I know why the guy said his fingerboards for his guitars didn't sand linear.
