OT- pressure Washer Pump Trouble

Don Orr

I am looking to the extensive brain trust on this site for some help. I have a small pressure washer with a common Annovi Reverberi piston pump that stopped working. I bought a replacement pump and that works fine. I thought it might be fun to rebuild the old one and have a backup. I watched a ton of videos including the 1 from the manufacturer. I got the replacement/rebuild parts (valves & seals), took the old pump apart, cleaned it out, and installed the new parts. I can't get water (or air) to flow through the pump as it should. I have not replaced the unloader valve yet as the existing 1 seems fine. Any thoughts or ideas ?

Is your symptom that water will not flow thru the pump and out the wand when the motor is not running?

If so my wild guess is one of the valve got installed facing the wrong direction and preventing any water movement.

Yes, nothing will flow through at all, not even air. The pump is not connected to the motor at this point. All valves are correctly in place and seated. Drive shaft turns easily and the pistons move up and down in order as they should. I can get a new unloader valve and by then I will be closing in on the cost of a new pump. :\ >( :(

Maybe it's the type of pump that needs to be primed. Is there a plug that can be removed so that you can fill up the pump with water?

No plug for priming. You just connect the hose to the inlet and let it flow through til it comes out of the spray wand, then start the engine and away you go. I can't get any water to flow through now. I think I will get a new unloader valve and try that. Seems to be a common solution from what I can gather.
