table saw placement

When I downsized to my new shop I put a lot of thought into where the table saw should go and how to orient it. It worked. I had to cut up some 1/4" plywood for drawer sides and bottoms for a cabinet my sister wanted. So I came up with this idea. I had 8 2x4's that I use for my saw horses. I sat a shorter piece on my outfeed dolly and then put the 8 foot board on the fence track of my table saw. I drilled some holes for small nails to keep it all from slipping. Most of my smaller machines and tool cabinets are on wheels so I rolled them out of the way. On the other end I rolled my miter saw out of the way and the plywood hit the blade of my bandsaw by about 1/2" so I slid it sideways just enough to clear the blade. That was just enough to let me rip it up to size. If I cut off more than a foot there is just enough room between my lathe and the saw to cross cut the plywood so it's pretty easy to cut 1x4 foot pieces or 2x4 foot pieces.

John, did you consider breaking down the sheet using a circular saw and guides?

Placement of machines is important, not only with regard to the available space (all mine must go into one half of a double garage), but also with regard to work flow. Have you groups machines together with the latter in mind?

I do normally cut them smaller using a circular saw and guides. It is more.accurate and quicker on the table saw for some things. In my previous shop I had a large outfield table/workbench. That had to go.
