Thompsons Water Seal - age limit?

Does Thompson's Water Seal get too old to use? I can't recall when I bought my 5 gallon can but it has been a little longer than forever! It has not jelled or hardened and still looks pretty clear. I sanded my redwood picnic table top and seats and applied two coats yesterday. It all soaked in but I could feel just a little bit of stickiness along some edges this morning. I think I will try another coat tomorrow or the next day.
