Look at the Silky product line. Depending on how high you expect to cut. I've got a 20' Hayate and a 12' Longboy that amaze me.

If I were to look for a cordless stick saw I'd look hard at Dewalt and Husqvarna

DW because that's what the rest of my cordless tools are and makes battery issues universal. I have a DW chainsaw that works well enough for what I need considering the cost. For light homeowner use it would be OK...not to expect it to stand next to Makita or Husky battery saws.

I'd look close at Husky for the stick saw. Even if the battery is only good for their tools.

Cut through a 3" branch at maximum extension in 6 pulls.

I've used a GreenWorks pole saw for a little more than 2 years with zero issues. The unit has good balance once the battery is inserted. The 40V battery recharges quickly. The same battery works in their line of chain saws, grass trimmers, and hedge trimmers. One caveat, the handle does not telescope, it uses an extension to reach the 10' max. The shorter length is also good for reaching into the clumps of small trunks of some shrubs.

I am looking hard at cordless pole saws. I already have a GreenWorks 40V blower/vacuum that I got because it was a vacuum. Now I want to expand what I can use with the 40V battery, starting with the pole saw. Next year, I will probably replace the lawn mower, as I can mow in about 20 minutes with a push mower, so a cordless should be able to do the job just fine.

Hey Jason - Go for it. Your situation sounds like the perfect case for cordless.

I made the switch to a Ryobi cordless/battery mower last spring, and so far have just loved it. Beats the heck out of the issues of small gas engines! My 'lawn' takes a bit longer than 20 minutes, but even at overgrown status I have managed the cut on the single battery I have and can often use the blower on the drive afterwards.

I am looking at the Longboy if I go w/ a manual.

I have a Silky Gomboy that I take with me when I go on trail maintenance trips along w/ a shorter Pocketboy.

I have a pro grade Jameson 3 pole setup that has both a pruner and a saw head. I think it reaches about 20', maybe a bit more. No batteries, no motor, just hand work. The crazy sharp saw can cut through a 4" limb easily in about 2 minutes. The pruner head, with its compound rope system can cut a 1" limb easily, and can get through about 1.5" limbs on some species of trees.

I can't imagine a homeowner needing a motor for this kind of occasional work unless one has a huge tree'd lot.

If there were a downside, it can be difficult to heft the unit with all of the sections on to vertical, especially under the canopy of a tree where there are always obstacles. It seems to me this would be even harder with a motorized machine.

Bailey's.com has a good selection of pro grade tools for arborist work. Worth a look.

Talked it over with the CSR from Silky.

Ordered a 16’ Hayauchi saw. The Hayauchi is a bit better for dead wood, though it will handle green wood.

JL, late to the parade, but glad you found something that fits your needs. Maybe 15-20 years ago I bought a pole saw from Lee Valley. I was surprised at how useful it has proven to be. May not be "Pro" grade, but it has met my needs. Jim

You should be well pleased. The Silky saws are the best I've ever used. I have two Silky Zubat hand saws but I've considered a pole saw with a Silky blade. Let us know how you like it.
