Metal Stuff in Trees
Dave Bair
A recent thread yielded a lot of reports of metal embedded in trees. My father once found a Model-T engine block that had been left in the crotch of an Oak tree. He was not cutting the tree, though, a split in the crotch from a wind event exposed it. The rest of the tree made good firewood. The tree had always had an unusual bulge. Gives a new meaning to the "shade-tree mechanic" phrase.
