how to dry veneer

Bill Tindall, E.Tn.

I sawed veneer from an 8/4 plank to be drawer fronts for daughter's table. It is about 15% moisture content. I would like to dry it more before using. I have it sandwiched between brown paper and clamped flat between two boards awaiting how I should proceed.

I would cut the boards a little bit bigger then they will be and place double brown paper between each drawer front piece and also carefully place a half dozen sheets of newspaper between the brown paper.

To help with preventing trapped moisture, add a sheet of fiberglas window screen to the sandwich on either face of the veneer. Periodically (oops, I forget the recommended interval :( ) replace the newsprint.
