Delicate Woodworking Item

My cousin was in town visiting this past weekend. She brought me a little memento -A little coopered bucket made by our grandfather-Herbert Young-probably in the 1960's or 1970's.
Here is my Grampa Herbert Young with his three boys-
Roland(my dad) the youngest on the lower left, Frank upper left and Dick-the oldest son on upper right--probably around 1940

I live in a small town in CT. Years ago there was a bucket builder in town. He hired local kids to help and he made buckets for one of those compnies that have catalogs with interesting things.

I learned to make buckets a few years back, and can appreciate the skill and effort that are in that awesome piece of work!! Harder in many,ways to do in a smaller size.
Looks like a dry bucket, well thought out and well proportioned.

There is one loose stave-Next to the "1" in 1969 so it doesn't "hold Water"
It was really fun to look this over and imagine the steps Herbert took in making this little item. Looks like the "U" shaped pieces and the long handle came from a coat hanger. I think the various holes were drilled with a hand held drill. Something like this:
I suspect the U brackets were inserted in drilled holes then peened over a small anvil..
The banding looks to be hand hammered too-maybe also from a coat hanger?
Based on the "1969" date Grampa would have been around 77 yrs old when he made this

It looked like a large bucket until you held it in your hand, so maybe made for a child? Do you know the story behind it? In any case, a very nice treasure.
