WC "Search" Broken?

WC "Search" Broken?

John McGaw

For maybe the first time ever I went to search for an old post and tried to use the Search function on the board. Every time I do I come up with an error message to the tune of Byte order is not compatible at /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/perl/5.20/Storable.pm line 424, at sub RL::Basic::deserialize_bin line 10.

Tried in FireFox, my usual browser and in Chrome and get the same error message. Anybody else seeing similar?

The built-in WoodCentral search function hasn't worked in a coon's age. if you want to search the archives, or current messages or articles, use google, with an additional parameter, site:woodcentral.com. For example, if you want to look at messages discussing unicorns, type into the google search window in your browser, unicorn site:woodcentral.com

Yes, William is right. The native search went south over a year ago when my server guys updated our Perl module, and I still haven't found a guru to fix it.

Meanwhile, I substituted a Google site search box on the front page just under my mug shot. It's actually better because it looks not only for posts but through all the articles and other departments, too, for relevant search hits. I really should find a way to link to it from the boards, too. I'll see if that is possible.
